Instant messaging has never failed to impressed me. We have been playing around with ICQ and Yahoo Messenger for quite some time. Technology evolved through decade. The fun of instant messaging has been taken to another leap step, which is on the net. Meebo is the new way of communication for instant messaging through the web. Meebo is in-browser instant messaging program which supports multiple IM services, including Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, AIM, and ICQ.

The goal of the project is to combine the multiple-network connectivity of Trillian and Pidgin with the in-browser availability of AIM Express. Meebo includes features such as invisible sign on and simultaneous connections to multiple IM services. meebo1.jpg

Meebo allows some people who are behind firewalled networks that block the various instant messaging protocols but have not blocked the meebo.com domain name to connect to instant messaging services due to the fact that the user only connects to port 443 (HTTPS) and the Meebo service itself then connects to the various instant messaging protocols.

meebo2.jpg

The released of Meebo repeater is an answer for some company and school firewalls that prevent employees and students from using Meebo. It is a tool which allows users to set up their own proxies for accessing the Meebo service on a Windows PC. Recently, Meebo announced the abilitly to use applications of Video Conferencing(from MeBeam), Voice Chat(from Pudding Media), Video/Audio Call(from TokBox), Group Voice Call(from TalkShoe), Live Broadcast(from Ustream.tv), and you can create your own applications to play games or anything you’d like.

Firewall test

This test will check your computer for ports that are commonly left open. Open ports could allow your computer to be compromised. This firewall test will also check for open ports known to be used by Viruses and Trojans. I took the test to scan for open ports in my pc. First you must select the port range, and for this case my selection is from 1-2500 ports, below is the results.

firewall-test.jpg

Does this mean anything? the test is telling the world that right now I was having fun with my Bitcomet. If you wish to get more info or more port range all you have to do is specify range of port that you wish to scan. You might catch one or two worm waiting at port. Nice, I like this features, you’ll even get the details of opened port too, at least you learned something out of it.

Anonymous Test

This is another cool test that’s a must for every surfers on the net. It’s amazing how much information a person gives away when they surf the internet, do you know how much personal information you are giving away? So here we go.

privacy-test.jpg

There you have it, now everybody knows that I’m from Kuala Lumpur. The test shows my Ip and my host name and together where the Ip is located. Obviously this test shown a basic dig of information of a network that I’m in. Nothing personal information reveals but you can sure impress your online buddies with this information.

note : the information based on the test does not make you a superhacker :)

So I took another test, its a popup test. I found this quite impressive, to know that popup falls into may categories, there’s Normal popup,Full-screen popup,Channel-opener popup,Modeless dialog popup,Browser window popup,User-launched HREF-method popup,User-launched JavaScript-method popup,User-launched OnClick-method popup and User-launched Delayed-method popup. The results ?

popup.jpg

I scored 100/100 points, wow! but that’s just a basic test. That alone gives me enough reason to keep firefox in pc. Well that’s just few test I took with AuditMypc free online tools, there’s more to it, visit AuditMyPc for more tools and tests.
