Advisories - VMware ESX Server Multiple Vulnerabilities
Published January 9th, 2008 in SecurityMultiple vulnerabilities have been identified in VMware ESX Server and VirtualCenter, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions, disclose sensitive information or execute arbitrary commands and scripting code. These issues are caused by errors in Tomcat and JRE which can be exploited by remote users to gain escalated privileges, trigger denial of service conditions or compromise an affected system.
Weakness in VMware ESX Server can be exploited by malicious local users to bypass certain security restrictions and disclose potentially sensitive information, or by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
VMware ESX Server 2.x and VMware ESX Server 3.x are vulnerable to this attack.
