They are capable of blocking incoming and outgoing connections based on IP blocklists. The system is also capable of blocking advertising, spyware, government and educational ranges, depending upon user preferences.
Now with PeerGuardian 2 , it integrates support for multiple lists, list editing, automatic updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc), making it the safest and easiest way to protect your privacy on P2P. The previous released of PeerGuardian certain issues arise, it was a big CPU hog, but with Peer Guardian 2 you could notice that only 1% usage during normal operation. For Windows 2000, XP, and 2003, Peer Guardian 2 capable of blocking all types of protocol, however on Windows 98 and ME, Peer Guardian 2 will only block TCP.
Peer Guardian is available for Windows and OSX only, currently there’s no install option available for linux. You can download Peer Guardian 2 here.
