30 Days of Night

30 Days of Night is a new horror film based on a popular graphic novel. The set was filmed at Alaskan town that experiences nighttime for one straight month. The town name, Barrow is the country’s northernmost settlement and doesn’t experience sunlight for two months straight. But in the film however, the director cut it to 1 month only, saving for another sequel probably.
Josh Hartnett plays apparently not so smart character, Sheriff Eben, who is investigating weird crimes like stolen cell phones and murdered sled dogs. A stranger played by Ben Foster popped into town. Turns out The Stranger is just an asshole who wants to become one of the vampires.
With all communication systems destroyed, they launch their attack on the townspeople like The Matrix characters with fangs. They’re leaping, flying and throwing people around, plus they’re really pale and wear stylish long black coats and boots. Marlow, their ruler, waxes philosophically about his victims right before, during or after he crushes their heads or strangles them.
With the end of the month approaching, the vampires break a nearby oil pipeline open, planning to burn down the town in order to keep their activities secret. Stella, having hidden under a wrecked car during this time, is trapped between the vampires and the fire. Realizing that she cannot escape on her own, Eben opts to infect himself in order to buy her the time to escape. Eben does battle with Marlow and manages to kill him. The remaining vampires, lacking guidance, cautiously retreat. As the film ends, Eben and Stella watch the sunrise together, and she holds Eben as he begins to combust from exposure to sunlight.
