We heard about them almost all the time, on the news, on the streets, from friends and from internet. They called themselves PEKIDA acronym for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dan Dakwah Islamiah with their vision “amar makruf nahi mungkar”. Pekida main activities more on to assist local community on weddings, funerals and all that involved in community work. Besides thats, Pekida main focus is more emphasize on islamic(which they should) activities.

Pekida groups members came from all walk of life, let see, some of them is mat rempit,disco bouncers, the-guy-who-pulled-your-car-when-you-dont-pay-monthly-installments, gangsters and many more. All from variety of backgrounds as you can see none of it is good. Because of separate ideology, at some area such as ampang and keramat, Pekida is devided into few division. People might as well thought, what is this? ok let see.. there’s pekida whose membership 100% muslim and there is another part which the mix version, muslim and non muslim.

Words on the streets is very strong Pekida is not what they said they are. They involved in gang fights, alcohol,disco,pick pocket,bohsia and lot more with similar nature. If you happen to come across a gang fight 70% I would say Pekida is involved. Pekida is lead by the people from the government itself. We may not like to think this as group of gangsters that’s “dihalalkan” by the government, but it seems that to be so true. I believe most of Pekida leaders is trying so hard to improve this organization, to stands for what they fight for. But their children(members) is making this hard for them.

Best way to avoid things become worst, enrolled all the newly recruited members to a special designed course which they can learn what is the real meaning of islam. Hope things will change.
